Safety rules in case of emergency - Greece

Teachers of all classes make a demonstration of school evacuation in case of fire or earthquake.
During the earthquake, the teacher says:” Erthquake! Everybody stay under the desks; keep calm.”

In case of fire, the teacher has to sound the alarm and ring the school bell. The teacher who is in charge of electricity must turn off the switches. The head teacher calls the fire brigade.

Students follow the same plan for evacuating the building.

Healthy lifestyle

Pupils from TJ Romania want to said us what does it mean: "healthy lifestyle".

It is very important to have a natural and healthy lifestyle. Lots of people are fighting today with diseases and you can avoid this kind of situation if you just eat, drink, stay healthy. This word ,,HEALTHY" doesn't mean necesary to eat natural things, you can be healthy if you are calm, if you do different sports like: jogging, zumba, fitness, swimming, basketball and other, if you sleep at least ten hours a day or other simple things.

Healthy things:
1. eat and drink natural
2. think positive, be calm, just relax
3. make sport
4. drink a lot of water (the life drink)
5. be happy, smile at least once a day
6. just be healthy

Andreea

To be healthy, we must respect some rules. Meals should be regular, hours of sleep must be respected, food must be healthy. Sporting events have to become part of our life.
In the morning, at breakfast, you should not miss milk and cereal. They offer many vitamins and energy. Until lunch we can eat some fruit or yogurt.
At lunch, soup should not miss. I suggest as a second course-mashed potatoes, with steak and a salad of many vegetables. We can continue with a light dessert. After a little rest we can continue our daily activities. Until dinner we can eat fruit.
Dinner should not be later than 7p.m.At dinner we can eat: milk, cheese, butter, jam, toast and tea. For dessert we can eat a fruit salad. After dinner it is better to walk half an hour.
Bedtime should not be later than 10p.m and waking time should be at 7:30a.m.
Respecting these rules, we have a balanced and healthy life.

Safety Rules - meeting with policeman in Poland

Safety Rules for Children when They Are on their Own

A stranger is just someone I don’t know and can look like anybody.
The rules are different when I am with an adult who is taking care of me and when I am on my own. When I am on my own, my job is to check first with the adult in charge before I let a stranger get close to me, talk to me, or give me anything.
If I am old enough to be out on my own without an adult to ask, it is safer to be where there are other people close by to get help if I need it.
I do not give personal information to a stranger or to someone who makes me feel uncomfortable.
It is OK to get help from strangers if an emergency is happening to me, and there is no one close by that I know.
My job is to check first with the adult in charge before I go anywhere with anyone (a stranger or someone I know). I will tell the adult in charge where I am going, who will be with me, and what I will be doing.
I will know what my family’s safety rules are for children answering the door, being on the phone, and being on the internet.

Learning about human body in Greece

Pupils were taught by their teacher about human anatomy. They learned about some basic human organs and their function. The model the teacher used, helped them to see their actual size and position in the human body. As a form of game, they had to put the organs in the right place and see how they are connected and how they interact to make the human body function. They named them in English and used prepositions of place to show their position:
e.g The heart is between the lungs. The liver is under the right lung etc.
The next part of the activity was to talk about health problems that are connected with these organs. We talked about the specialists who are relevant to these health problems:
e.g heart trouble : cardiologist
pain in the arms or legs : orthopedic
rash : dermatologist
eyesight problems : ophthalmologist
earache : stomachologist
children diseases : pediatrician

Pupils found that medical terms are easy for Greek students to understand, as most words in medicine come from the Greek language. So another vocabulary activity was to try to recognize English medical words and relate them to the equivalent greek words:
Allergy, amnesia, anemia, arthritis, asthma, diabetes, diarrhea, haemorrhage, meningitis, peritonitis, pneumonia, poliomyelitis etc
Also : anatomy, artery, anaesthetic, antidote, antiseptic, diagnosis, therapy, stethoscope, thermometer, myopia etc.

We also collected some information from parents, grandparents about traditional cures , using plants and herbs from nature. So here are some suggestions:
-When you have a sore throat you should drink hot tea with a teaspoon of honey or with lemon juice.
-If you have a cold and can`t breathe, boil water with eucalyptus leaves. Stand over the pot and breathe deeply. You will feel much better.
-It`s a good idea to drink chamomile tea if you have stomachache.
-For the high temperature, put a compress of water and vinegar on your forehead.
-Mint and lavender leaves are good for headaches. Boil them, strain and add honey and lemon juice.
-If you have a toothache you should chew lavender leaves.
When your back hurts, a good massage with alcohol and keeping warm will make you feel much better.

Making olive pastries

Students of 6th class have been working on a project on olives and olive oil of course which is so important in the Mediterranean diet. We use it in cooking a lot, in salads, sweets, and as part of the project we made the olive pastries at school.

Ingredients

Olives without the kernel
One glass of seed oil or olive oil
2 blended oranges (without the peel)
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
Sesame seeds
Flour

Instructions
Mix all the ingredients. Add as much flour as to make a soft dough. Take a little dough in your hand, put an olive and close so as to make a small- sized ball (it is going to expand during baking). Roll the ball on the sesame seeds so that it is covered with sesame. Bake in medium heat oven for 15-20 minutes.

Fruit skewers

We found that fruits are very healthy. We decided to make something with fruits to eat. We made fruit skewers. You also can do it !!! They are healthy to eat !!!

Healthy muesli made by children in Jastrzebie

We were talking about healthy food that we can make own in home. We made healthy muesli in kindergarten. You also can do it !!!

Muesli can be freshly prepared using either dry rolled oats or whole grain oats that have been soaked in water or fruit juice. Other ingredients commonly included are additional grated or chopped fresh fruit (e.g., bananas, apples, berries, grapes, mango), dried fruit, milk products (e.g., yogurt, cream, condensed milk, cottage cheese, or nondairy milk substitutes), lemon juice, ground nuts, seeds, spices (especially cinnamon), honey and muesli mix.

Sweet honey

We were talking about beekeeper work and health honey. We just know that the 3 key health benefits of honey are related to the fact that:

1. Honey is nature's energy booster.
2. Honey is a great immunity system builder.
3. Honey is a natural remedy for many ailments.
